Top 5 Student Jobs.
Money is running low, free time is on the up and your thumbs can only take so many hours on the Xbox and feet can only take so many steps around the shops! Time to get a job? Think so!
Bar / Restaurant Work
An obvious one and often the first to be snapped up. Getting a job in a bar or restaurant can do wonders for self confidence and gaining great people skills as well as being great fun! The hours are often long and the shifts can bite into a social life but when there’s money going into the bank, does it matter?
Volunteering
Wonderful for the soul and even better for the C.V, volunteering can be a great way to learn new skills and gain a huge chunk of life experience. Whether you do it for a charity or maybe an unpaid work placement it’s things like this that can give you the edge when it comes to getting full time employment. Check with your local council for opportunities as well as companies you admire for your chosen skills!

Overseas
You don’t have to take a gap year to take advantage of working abroad, your summer break is a great time to pack up and get stuck into an adventure! There are 100s of schemes out there, both paid and unpaid, where you can learn skills you wouldn’t get the chance to elsewhere and you can enjoy the culture of a new country at the same time!

Office
When many students leave full time education and are thrown into the working environment having never worked in an office before it can become a daunting experience and feel like you’re on a massive learning curve. One way to ease this process is to take a short temporary job over summer maybe doing data entry or reception cover just to give you a general feel of what it’s like to work in a professional setup. Get to know what’s accepted and what’s not, this will also do wonders for you when it comes to going for interviews. Another plus point on your C.V.
Theme Parks / Holiday work.
Summer time means Alton Towers, Chessington, Marwell Zoo, the list goes on and on! They cry out for seasonal workers and pay pretty well too! Of course there are perks with some too, free days out, free rides? Yes, please!
Best thing to do is make your C.V look amazing, find out who’s employing and quickly fire your details over with a picture of yourself (makes it a little more personal, don’t include drunken night out ones!)
Good luck!
