Welcome back folks! We have to say that the site has been very quiet without you and we missed you all terribly. We hope you had an egg-cellent break and ate as many Easter eggs as possible. We ate far too many ourselves so we’re now planning to hit the gym… it’s the thought that counts right?!
As you are probably all aware, the end of the Easter holidays can only mean one thing; revision and exams! If you’re looking for some stress busting tips then please check out our previous blog. There are lots of great tips to help you through this difficult period and there is also plenty of support around campus. For those of you who do have exams approaching we wish you good luck!
Storthes Hall and Ashenhurst come into their own during the summer months, with lots of barbecues, picnics and water fights taking place. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll be in for a scorching hot summer so you get to make the most of your place!
The deposit return forms are starting to come in now but we still have plenty outstanding! Letters have recently gone out to all your rooms with a deposit return form attached. Don’t have a deposit form? You can come and grab one from the DIGS office.
This month D-Bar welcomed you back with open arms with the ‘Return to Storthes’ party and the Playboy Mansion ‘Lets Get Funked’ weekend bonanza. We had a great weekend and hope you did too! Keep and eye on the facebook pages for pictures. We also have the usual array of great evenings planned for you, including open mic Wednesdays, quiz night Thursdays, ‘Out of Town’ on Fridays and of course the infamous D-Bar Sundays. Enjoy!

Looks like spring is in the air!
So we admit it, we’re so excited about the sunshine here at Digs Huddersfield that we are all a little bit giddy. Who cares that’s it’s still a bit nippy? We can see blue sky and the daffodils are growing and as usual, Huddersfield is looking fabulous in the sunshine. Before you know it we’ll all be in our swimwear and barbecuing everything possible. Delicious.
Storthes Hall Park and Ashenhurst Houses are great places to be over summer. With picnics, sunbathing and BBQ’s all being at the top of the to do list (along with coursework and revision of course!). So for those who do have impending exams we of course wish you the best of luck (not that you’ll need it). We also offer summer accommodation at the fantastic rate of £65/week, so if you don’t want to trek all the way back home you don’t have to! See the accommodation office for details.
Deposit Return Forms
For the boring bit: Letters have recently gone out to all your rooms with a deposit return form attached. It’s really important that you fill these forms in and return them to us as soon as possible so we can return your pennies as soon as possible! It’s a lengthy process sorting out your deposits and we anticipate them hitting your bank accounts in early August. To ensure that your full deposit is returned keep your room sparkly and report any wear and tear to the site reception so we can look at it for you.
Smoking
Please remember that if you’re in a non smoking flat then you will need to step outside for that cigarette. Smoking in a non smoking block can incur a charge so if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us at the accommodation office!
Upcoming events at Storthes Hall Park & Ashenhurst Houses
And now for the fun bit! We have loadsa cracking events for you this month. March 13th is the D Bar Easter Scavenger hunt from 4pm onwards with lots of awesome prizes to be won! Then as usual, we will be celebrating St Patrick’s Day in style @ The D Bar. If only Guinness wasn’t so terrible on the old tum tum! And of course our X Factor final is Friday 12th…. So if your voice just needs to be heard we’ll see you there! We have loads going on at the D-Bar for you guys to enjoy this term….
Monday: ‘Alt’ night for all you rockers
Tuesday: ‘Lets Get Funked’ Tokyo pre-party
Wednesday: Open Mic night for you to strut your stuff
Thursday: Quiz night!!
Friday: Wii night
Sunday night is the infamous ‘Lets Get Funked’. The only place to be on a Sunday (other than in bed)!
