Would you put a bet on yourself?

Posted September 3rd, 2010 by DIGS Admin. Filed in DIGS Student

It’s been documented recently that a US company has begun taking bets on whether or not students will get the grades they are predicted to, a little slow are the yankies as we’ve been doing this for years.

William Hill will happily take your hard earned (borrowed) money for you to place a wager on your own degree outcomes or maybe that of your friends. How confident are you on getting that 2:1? Enough to put a tenner on it? Maybe hundred?

What a way to encourage yourself to do well we must admit! A promise of a big fat winning at the end of your degree if you knuckle down and dedicate yourself to the cause. Let us not forget that the achievement of a degree is of course a wonderful thing to have but you can’t spend a degree on a weekend in Paris can you? Or maybe a new iPod, TV, that pair of All Saints boots that have been taunting you for months.

How about it then, pop yourselves down to William Hill as your first year starts and have a flutter on your potential.

Remember though, when you’re next at the bottom of your fifth pint and contemplating skipping lectures in the morning that it could be one bet you could lose big time!

Believe in your future and cash in!

I would’ve bet at the beginning of third year I’d get 69%! Wonder how much I’d've got for predicting that! The only certainty is my rotten luck!
